Trio Ciel performs Dvořák
Stéphanie Caplette, Jonathan Kilgannon and I were studying music at the Université de Montréal when we first began playing trios together as a part of chamber music class. Prior to the first rehearsal, I hadn't met either of them and had no idea what to expect. The three of us come from distant parts of Canada and diverse Canadian cultures- Jonathan is from Edson, AB and Stéphanie, Sherbrook, QC. To make a long story short, we ended up working well together, and had so much fun! A few years after my Masters studies, Stéphanie and Jonathan agreed to come to Nova Scotia to play music together and hang out. We performed some of Dvořák's 'Dumky' Trio, and recorded a movement at Scott Ferguson's studio (FMP) in Dartmouth. It was such a pleasure to play with them again. Please enjoy our performance from the summer of 2014:
I met with Stéphanie and Jonathan this week, just to say hello and so you could meet them too. Stéphanie is currently living in Thunder Bay, where she is plays violin for the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra (in lieu of live orchestra performances, members of the orchestra are currently creating chamber music videos), and Jonathan is working in construction and keeping his piano fingers nimble in Edson, Alberta. Can you tell we were having fun? ;) Can't wait to put together another piano trio performance of our Trio Ciel. Thanks again, S and J!
